Throughout life, stress, memories and emotions are stored in our bodies and show up as aches, pains and tension. Current research has proven that chronic stress can manifest physically as illness and disease, leaving us feeling tired, emotionally drained and disconnected.
The Rubenfeld Synergy Method® (RSM) offers a gentle way to address what is happening both physically and emotionally, by combining talk with gentle touch and compassionate listening. With the support of the Synergist, we begin to see that our physical and emotional experiences are connected. RSM can help you develop awareness of feelings and beliefs held in your body which result in energy blocks, tensions, physical and/or emotional pain and imbalances. These holdings often control how you feel and behave in the present and affect the choices you make. RSM allows you to access those held feelings and beliefs. This often frees the body from pain, the mind from suffering and gives you the opportunity to live from conscious choice rather than from unconscious patterns. Some of the reported benefits of RSM include recovery from physical and emotional trauma, pain management, increased ease of movement, improved body image, improved relationships and greater self-esteem and self-confidence. Your body registers the events of your life in its cells. During RSM sessions, you will learn to listen to your body's messages and claim a greater role in your own physical and emotional wellness.
The unique fusion of talk and touch distinguishes the Rubenfeld Synergy Method® from other body-mind methods. The client, fully-clothed, lies on a bodywork table, but may sit in a chair, stand, walk, or even dance. The session begins with the Synergist inviting the client to bring awareness to his or her body. The Synergist then makes gentle contact with the client using a listening touch. This listening touch heightens physical and emotional awareness and helps clients experience rather than just talk about their feelings. It allows the client to discover the wisdom of his or her body. Sessions are generally 45-60 minutes in length. Boundaries are always respected and sessions are strictly confidential. The amount and frequency of the sessions depends on the individual's needs. Unlike many other therapeutic modalities, in RSM, the client is an equal and active participant in his/her healing process.
"I had been to two therapists before, but this was different. You don't sit on the couch and say what you think you should say. The atmosphere is so different, the touch is so calming. Its freeing."

Awareness is the first key to change: By bringing the unconscious into awareness, clients have the opportunity to explore alternate choices and to develop possibilities for emotional, physical and psychophysical change.
